Laundry and Garbage Chutes

Garbage and Laundry Chute Systems are systems that allow garbage or laundry thrown from upper floors to be conveyed to the collection room with the help of a chute.

The material selection in garbage and laundry chutes is very important. The material to be used should be determined according to the diameter to be selected, provided that it is not less than 1 mm, and should be AISI 304 Quality Stainless Steel. Otherwise, holes and tears may occur in the chutes due to corrosion, and the thrown garbage may tear and get stuck at these points, causing the chute to become blocked.

A ventilation system must be installed in garbage chutes. It is necessary to prevent bacteria that may form in the garbage room from penetrating into the building through the garbage chute covers. For this reason, this air circulation should be provided by using a fan in the part of the system close to the roof.

Garbage chutes need to be washed and cleaned from time to time, this system can be done manually as well as with automation. Manual washing can be done with a water system connected to the nozzles placed on the cover throats on the floors.

GARBAGE CHUT COVERS

Garbage chute covers must be lockable. This system can be designed in 3 ways.

1. Classic Lock System

In this system, the attendant uses the chute by opening the cover with a key on each floor. In this case, there is an absolute need for an attendant for garbage collection.

2. Semi-Automated System

In this system, the person who will throw garbage on the floors throws the garbage bag by following the lights on the cover. If a garbage bag is thrown into the chute, the light on the cover turns red and does not allow the cover to be opened. When the garbage falls into the container, the cover light turns blue and allows the cover to be opened.

3. Fully Automated System

In this system, separation can be done, the button on the cover that is suitable for the type of garbage is pressed, the system in the garbage room is directed to that container, the cover opens when it is ready and the garbage you throw falls into that container.

CHUT AND COVER ASSEMBLY

The vibration that occurs while the covers are closed during use causes the construction material (Plaster, paint, etc.) used in the cover frame to crack. This situation requires frequent return repairs on all floors, the way to prevent this situation is to use support that will provide rigidity under and above the covers.

It is necessary to prevent the fire that may occur in the garbage room from reaching the floors through the chute.

A fire damper is used at this point of the chute descending to the garbage room. The heat-sensitive link of the fire damper melts when the room temperature reaches 70 ° C and the damper, which moves from the slide, closes the chute mouth and prevents the fire from entering the chute.

GARBAGE SEPARATION AND COMPRESSION

1. SEPARATION

In the separation made for return recovery

a- Domestic waste

b- Plastic, Paper, Metal

c- Glass

If the apartment users classify the garbage bags according to their preferences, it is possible to make separation according to this preference on the cover button.

When the garbage collection scenario is performed in multi-storey buildings, the volume of garbage collected is very high. In this case, both the number of spare containers and the cost of transporting them outside the building are quite high.

If household waste is compressed and collected by compactor, 80% of the waste is compressed. In this case, less container is needed and it makes the discharge outside the building easier. Due to all these gains, the system covers the investment cost after a while.

Garbage Chutes are also a subject that requires meticulous planning and installation, just like Elevators, and requires expertise.
